BROADBAND

BROADBAND OVER SATELLITE

Broadband connectivity to the Internet over satellite telephones has only recently become relevant with the introduction of Inmarsat BGAN early last year in 2008.

Now, for the first time, we have the capability of simultaneous Voice and Internet Data World Wide over Inmarsat BGAN.

These services are available for all uses including Maritime (Fleet Broadband) and Aeronautical (Swift Broadband).

Thuraya-IP services have recently become available if you are operating in Europe , Middle East , Asia and Africa.

VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) is an option for more Data and Voice intensive applications where high usage is needed. These networks therefore have a lower overall usage cost not charged by the minute, keeping the usage (airtime service plan) costs down by implementing "shared" IP satellite circuits. To maintain a higher Quality of Service (QOS) on these shared networks committed minimum bandwidth is added for additional cost. This is absolutely necessary for voice traffic on these circuits (VoIP with CIR (committed information rate)).
