HANDHELD

HANDHELD SATPHONES

The smallest and most light weight of all the satphones are the Handheld model type, similar in functionality to today's cellular phones, although slightly larger in design.

Available Handheld models are currently limited to a just a few networks, all quite powerfull but geographically dependent. Only Iridium provides fully Global World Wide coverage.

In early 2009, Iridium came out with the smallest and most compact version to date: the 9555. If travelling in Europe , the Middle East , Asia, or Africa, Thuraya is also a good option for portable, handheld satellite phone service. Since the failure of Globalstar we are not considering the newer GSP1700.
