Iridium Crew Calling

With a single SIM Card and a single Iridium phone, vessels can now have both traditional subscription service and prepaid service. Captain and officers use their traditional subscription service as required for ship's business while crewmembers can place prepaid personal calls.

Most importantly, crewmembers' prepaid calls are automatically separated from calls made for ship's business, eliminating the administrative burden of manually accounting for crew calls.

The prices for the subscription service portion of Crew Calling mirror regular Iridium subscription service.

Crewmembers' prepaid calls are priced at a single flat rate per minute - All day long, no confusing zones or bands, no unpredictable roaming charges, less expensive than some international cellular roaming, less expensive than other satellite options. In addition to commercial fishing and shipping, Crew Calling Service is ideal for any situation where an Iridium phone is shared by many users such as mining sites, fractional ownership aircraft, military bases and public calling offices.

Iridium Prepaid Plan Details

Approximate Burn Rate

Iridium Iridium airtime is deducted at a minimum of 60 seconds and 20 second increments thereafter. All billing is rounded up.
ISU to PSTN Voice = 60 units per minute
ISU to ISU = 30 units per minute
ISU to Other Sat Network Voice = 540 units per minute
ISU to Voice Mailbox = 30 units per minute
ISU to PSTN Data = 60 units per minute
ISU to ISU Data = 60 units per minute
ISU to Other Sat Network Data = 540 units per minute
Mobile-Originated SMS = 20 units per minute
PSTN to ISU Direct Dial = 0 units per minute
PSTN to ISU 2-Stage Dialing = 60 units per minute

Validity

Validity starts at time of activation of the Pre-paid SIM card.  If you renew the Prepaid SIM card before the expiration date, any unused minutes will roll over to the next annum. Adding minutes to a plan extends expiration date according to original plan  If the SIM card expires you lose any unused minutes but have 90 days to add minutes before the SIM card becomes null and void.  Maximum extension of Prepaid Account access is 2 years from the last recharge.

Voucher Units

Iridium Prepaid SIM card units are calculated in units, approximately 60 units per minute of Voice-to-Fixed usage.

Voicemail

Voicemail check is calculated as outgoing call.

Expiration of Minutes

All Prepaid SIM cards must be reloaded before expiration date. On date of expiration, all minutes are forfeited and the Prepaid Card is suspended for 90 days. Within the 90 day suspension, the Prepaid Card can be reactivated with a minimum purchase of 50 added minutes. If no action is taken, after 90 days the Prepaid Card will be automatically deactivated and the associated phone numbers will no longer be available.
50 Minute is a top-up plan available to current users of active prepaid cards on one of the 5,000, 3,000, 500, or 75 minute plans. It is not a stand alone plan.
30 day plan simply extends the expiration date of an existing plan by 30 days. This plan adds no minutes existing plan.
75 minute plan the minutes are valid for 30 days from date of activation
500 minute plan the minutes are valid for 12 months from date of activation
3,000 minute plan the minutes are valid for 24 months from date of activation
5,000 minute plan the minutes are valid for 24 months from date of activation

Term Commitment

Purchase and/or activation of any prepaid Iridium SIM card does not include any commitments for future service or purchases either by customer or by Remote Satellite Systems.

Refund Policy

All refunds must be arranged with the Remote Satellite Systems Sales Manager websales@remotesatellite.com in order to be processed. Unactivated prepaid Iridium SIM cards may be returned within 7 days of purchase, provided that they are still honored by the satellite service provider, and must be returned in original condition. Activated prepaid Iridium SIM cards cannot be returned and are not eligible for refund. Deactivation of an activated card stops service. Deactivated prepaid SIM cards are not eligible for any credit or refund for any unused minutes or validity.
