BGAN Monthly and Annual Airtime Plans

There are three types of BGAN service plans. The two basic packages offer low monthly fees; airtime is billed per megabyte and per voice minute as incurred. With the Premium packages you pay a higher monthly fee but you get certain amounts of data and voice indluded per month. The Flexible packages offer the ability to use included data and voice at anytime during a 12 month period.

Standard

In this option there is an individual price for each BGAN service component. Charges are based on a one-time activation fee, a monthly subscription charge, and the charges for the real usage per service component per month. Minimum duration is 12 months.

Basic

In this Basic post-pay pricing option you pay a slightly higher monthly subscription than in the Standard package. In return you get a lower price per MB for Background IP usage. Voice and SMS are charged as per normal pricing. Minimum duration is 12 months. Important note! ISDN and Streaming IP services are not available as part of this Basic/Lite Plan. If the customer needs these services, this package should not be selected.

Premium Packages

The Premium packages are monthly service plans. Subscription fees are per month and included minutes and/or MB are based on monthly usage. Term commitments apply.

Flexible Packages

The Flexible packages are annual service plans. Subscription fees are per annum and included minutes and/or MB are based on annual usage. Term commitments apply.

Remote Satellite Systems has the ability to set usage thresholds for customers on IP data, Streaming data, and voice. Customers can monitor their usage online. We also offer a firewall where customers can authorize or block (web) traffic and applications via a user friendly online interface.

BGAN Plan Details

Airtime

Included MB are for Background IP usage. Included minutes are for Voice usage. There is no rollover of the monthly allowances meaning you lose any unused allowance at the end of the calendar month and you start with a new allowance in the next month. Any voice allowance will only apply to terrestrial fixed and cellular terminations, BGAN Voicemail and other BGAN terminals, but not to other MSS destinations. Traffic on top of the included allowance will be charged at an out of bundle rate. For example, if the customer has a monthly allowance package which includes 100 MB and he/she has used 120 MB in a month, then 20 MB will be charged at the out of bundle rate.

The allowance of the Premium Packages will be on a pro-rata basis from the date of activation (in the month of activation). Any portion of such an Allowance, whether it is for a complete month or is pro-rated, that remains unused at the end of a month will be lost and therefore not available for use in the following month.

Example: A SIM has subscribed to the Premium Entry package that offers a 20MB monthly allowance. The Package is activated on 15 January, and over the remainder of January, 6MB are used. This has the following effects:

  • As the activation takes place on 15 January, the allowance for January is pro-rated so that only 10.97MB is available for the remainder of the month (i.e. 17 days of January, from the 15th to the 31st inclusive).
  • The SIM only uses 6MBs during that period; therefore the remaining 4.97MBs are lost and will not roll over to February when a new 20MB allowance will be available.

All BGAN services are available within these Packages. All other services that are not part of the included allowance will be charged in accordance with the standard pricing.

Subscription Fees

Subscriptions fees can be incurred per month (Standard, Basic, and Premium packages) or per year (Flexible packages). Once the minimum duration period has expired, the Package Plan will automatically be renewed, unless the SIM user chooses an alternative Package Plan on or before that expiry date.

Example: This automatic renewal means that an annual allowance package plan will, at the beginning of the thirteenth month, commence with a second annual subscription charge with a corresponding annual allowance. This will then be automatically renewed again at the beginning of the twenty-fifth month and so on.

Voicemail

Voicemail check is calculated as outgoing call.

Term Commitment

The subscription fees have to be paid each month/year for at least the minimum contract duration period. The minimum contract term varies between 3 and 12 months. Minimum duration expiration: once the minimum duration has expired for any plan, then the SIM will continue to be charged the applicable monthly/annual subscription fee and receive the respective monthly/annual allowance, until such time as a service order is received for that SIM to either move to another Plan, deactivate the SIM, or to deactivate/reactivate on a new Package Plan.

Refund Policy

All refunds must be arranged with the Remote Satellite Systems Sales Manager websales@remotesatellite.com in order to be processed. Unactivated prepaid Iridium SIM cards may be returned within 7 days of purchase, provided that they are still honored by the satellite service provider, and must be returned in original condition. Activated prepaid Iridium SIM cards cannot be returned and are not eligible for refund. Deactivation of an activated card stops service. Deactivated prepaid SIM cards are not eligible for any credit or refund for any unused minutes or validity.
